Simply put, I am in the best overall shape of my life. There is not one area in my fitness spectrum where I feel weak. Whether I’m running in a road race, moving heavy weight, or playing a fast-paced sport, I am capable of competing against other (non-CrossFit) athletes who train specifically for the given competition. But the difference between us (i.e., my athletic advantage) always manifests itself when we change the competition–a committed runner can stay with me on a three-mile run, but he can’t lift his own body weight on the pull-up rack, and he doesn’t have the same explosive power necessary in most sports. HeadHunter builds athletes in the healthiest way I have ever seen. They push you hard, but they’re not intrusive. They are advisers of the highest professionalism. Finally, if you become a HeadHunter, you will work, but it will be some of the most valuable work you’ve ever done, and, best of all, it’ll be work done for yourself.
My name is Joey and I am a police officer. What I really like about HeadHunters, are the members. HeadHunters is the first gym I have joined that is ego free. Everybody is friendly and willing to help each other. I’m new to CrossFit and I have asked a lot of questions about technique, Mike and Casey have been outstanding with answering all my questions and demonstrating all the exercises. HeadHunters is the only gym I have ever been a member of, that I actually look forward to going to.
CrossFit has changed my life, and I owe it all to the people of HeadHunters. I’ve been a member for a year now and I must say that I’m in the best shape of my life. I played sports my whole life and I never thought I had the ability to do the crazy things I can do now at the gym. It takes heart and a will power to work hard. Show up and give it your all and you can’t fail!
My name is Candace Barnes, and I am a graduate student in the Communication and Information Sciences department at UA. Headhunters Crossfit is my preferred exercise lifestyle choice because of the friendly atmosphere provided by the gym combined with the functionality and intensity of the workout choices offered. The equipment is definitely a perk, too!
I am Paulette Robertson. I am 42 years old and HeadHunters CrossFit Gym is helping me get stronger and healthier! I have never been one that enjoys “working out”, but I am actually enjoying it now! Mike and Casey are always helpful and available to help whenever needed. I am learning that I can achieve more than I thought I could and I am getting stronger at every workout!! Thanks Headhunters!!!
I’ve been working out and training at headhunters for three months now and I have nothing but good things to say about the place. I’m planning on training there for a long time. The Crossfit workouts are outstanding. I’ve been through Army Basic Training, the Troopers SWAT School, worked out in some form or fashion for years. I have never had workout’s challenge me more or get more out of me than at Headhunters. Everyone a the gym regularly encourages you to do your best. Then the training. Boxing, grappling, wrestling, groundfighting. I feel that I am better prepared for a physical conflict. This gives me the confidence to better deal with a combative suspect. I’m a lot less nervous about any situation, because I train in a real world atmosphere with people who are serious and knowledgeable about what works and what doesn’t. I think that exercise and some kind of fight training just makes sense if you are in Law Enforcement.
I have trained at a number of jiu-jitsu and crossfit gyms located in multiple cities throughout the United States. HeadHunter Combatives stands head and shoulders above the rest. Various training areas, and a vast assortment of jiu-jitsu, MMA, and crossfit equipment, provide the facility’s members with infinite options for achieving a higher level of health and fitness. The gym’s most valuable resource however, is its staff. Gym owners, Mike and Casey Taylor, possess a wealth of knowledge regarding exercise technique and physiology based on the most current and comprehensive fitness information available. Moreover, they exhibit intense dedication to each, individual gym member; so much so, that it is not uncommon to see them working out alongside you. Mike and Casey have also worked hard to cultivate a friendly and motivational atmosphere within the gym, making HeadHunter Combatives an ideal location to improve your overall health and well-being.

At age 46, I’d have to say I’m probably in the best shape of my life, due in no small part to Headhunters gym!
“CrossFit helps me relieve stress from work and stay in shape for random weekend activities.”
I’ve been a member of The Headhunters Gym since 2009. HeadHunters is more than a gym, it has a family atmosphere to it, everyone in there is willing to help out the other with whatever goal that person is trying to reach. I do both CrossFit and MMA, and truly feel out of the previous gyms I have attended, I have gained more both physically and mentally from Headhunters than I did any other place I’ve ever been. I want to personally thank Mike and Casey Taylor, because Headhunters & its cause has been very inspiring to my life. If I didn’t have that, no telling where I’d be, Thank you guys!

Mike and Casey made me feel right at home the first time I walked into the gym. I came to Headhunters with a specific goal in mind and they helped me, and are still helping me to achieve my goals daily. The friendly and competitive atmosphere at the gym is unlike any other. I’m proud to call Headhunters home gym among all the other gyms in the area.
First time I went to Headhunters I thought I was in pretty good shape…then proceeded to have my backside handed to me. I’ve learned a whole lot from Mike and Casey and they’ve been a part of sparking my interest in looking at fitness, strength, and conditioning in a much more developed light. What I like most about these coaches is that they both had broad backgrounds in physical culture BEFORE becoming CrossFit coaches, so they have a deeper understanding of how the puzzle pieces fit together than some other folks might. They bring legit experience to their coaching of Jiu Jitsu, MMA, CrossFit, etc. Plus, the gym facility itself is just pretty darn cool. You go to a traditional gym, you MAY pick up a handful of techniques by watching other people train, or someone MAY give you a pointer. 50/50 chance that even if that happens, what you’ll “learn” will be wrong. Practice doesn’t make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect. Practicing bad habits just ingrains bad technique. At Headhunters, you will LEARN to be a better, stronger, more conditioned physical being. That’s something you take with you when you leave the gym.
After football season last year, we wanted to keep our son active and ask him what he wanted to do until spring football tryouts? Kody’s reply “I want to train but I don’t want to just go lift weights at a regular gym….I want more! I want to condition my body and improve my agility skills and be a rookie that starts on the football team. I want to be a boxer. I want to be a MMA fighter. If was without question, if our teenager was this eager and excited about wanting to do something, we, as parents must see that we give him the opportunity. As parents there were 2 main things Mike expressed when first meeting with him…1) Is this something your son wants to do or something you want him to do? 2) If he gives me his dedication, I will help him achieve what he is wanting from a gym. We knew at that moment that Headhunters was the gym we wanted our son, Kody, to be a part of. Headhunters has become so much more than just a “gym” to our son. Mike, Casey, and Keith are the types of role models that every parent should want to surround their child(ren) with. They are more than trainers…..they are his inspiration to fight harder, believe in himself, and never give up on his dreams. We have seen tremendous growth in Kody (both mentally and physically) and have watched him transform from a kid who had a dream to a kid who is living his dream. Maybe one day, this kids dream of playing pro football and fighting in the UFC will become a reality thanks to Headhunters.

I have had many different workout regimens in my life and this is by far the most challenging and rewarding way to reach physical fitness goals thus far. I had done crossfit off and on for about a year at another gym but when I found out about Headhunters way of doing things I wanted to try it out, well, I was hooked after one week. It was not only because of the kickboxing portion that we do twice a week but also after doing a 10 AMRAP we would rest a bit and then do more, we don’t stop until we get the most out of our hour. We are there the full hour or more and I feel as if I get the most from my hour to myself at the gym. And as a mom of three, boy do I need it. I feel as if I had a good foundation before beginning crossfit but I was wrong, I didn’t know squat, it is the most functional way of working out for everyday life as well as an incredible boost as an athlete. Training here has helped my tennis game with endurance and mobility on the court. I have a long way to go to reach my goals but have already conquered milestones in such a short period of time while here at Headhunters. We have such an awesome group of ladies in our morning class with similar goals and we all encourage one another with our competitive spirits. I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Thanks Mike and Casey!!
I have been working out at Headhunters for 22 months and think it’s been some of the best training I’ve been exposed to. Mike and Casey do an awesome job of integrating cardio and weight workouts. Every day is something new, I never feel like I’m stuck in a rut because they have such a great variety in the workouts they write. I just recently had my 3rd child and I worked out the entire pregnancy. Mike and Casey helped me modify the workouts to my needs. I really believe it made a difference. I started back 6 weeks post baby with only 10 lbs to loose and I know I will get there with Headhunters!
My name is Marc de los Reyes. I joined HeadHunters CrossFit to change up my workout routine. The CrossFit team and members really motivate me to get as fit as I can. I am a tennis player and want the workouts to translate into my fitness on the court.

I’ve been a proud member of HeadHunters CrossFit since September 10, 2009! I know the exact day, because it was a game changer for me fitness wise! I’d been doing CrossFit at another gym for a few months, and I had a solid experience. In fact, it got me into CrossFit, which is no small feat for me. But, when I joined HeadHunters CrossFit, I finally felt at home. I knew this was the place I was supposed to be! This is my gym and I’m proud to call it home! Mike and Casey and dear Justice (our gym’s adorable mascot) really create a wonderful family atmosphere and I feel like one of the gang! I’ve never been pushed harder and am in the best shape of my life because of HeadHunters CrossFit and all that Mike and Casey do for their members and their gym. I personally love group workouts. I love the comradery and I just simply do not push myself as hard as I would on my own as I do with group CrossFit classes. I honestly feel like I’m getting a personal training session EVERY time I step into the gym. Mike and Casey are really focused on making sure we have proper form, which I appreciate, as who wants to get injured, right? I cannot recommend HeadHunters CrossFit enough. If you’re looking to get into the BEST shape of your LIFE, then I can’t recommend HeadHunters enough. I mean, come on, the people who win the CrossFit Games are deemed the fittest people on the planet! So, we know CrossFit in and of itself will get you into amazing physical shape. But, the awesome atmosphere and people at HeadHunters CrossFit will get you into both amazing physical AND mental shape! I am a true testimony of that!
